8. Driveshaft and back bridge

8.1. Technical characteristic



The driveshaft of the Ford Scorpio cars consists of two parts.

Forward part of a shaft after installation is counterbalanced as a single whole. In case of a rassoyedineniye of parts of a shaft at their assembly it is necessary to pay attention to preservation of a relative positioning of adjusting signs (the deepenings executed by a center punch on a shaft and also wide line on a crosspiece) which have to lie on one line. Crosspieces of hinges have the needle bearings condensed for protection against pollution. Crosswise hinges form non-demountable knot which in case of need should be replaced entirely with shaft.

Depending on modification of the car the driveshaft connects to the transmission via the elastic coupling or the cardan hinge.

Zadny Bridge

Zadny Bridge has a rigid suspension bracket, in front on a beam of a back axis, and behind through metal-rubber elements to a body. The main transfer is gipoidny.

The gear wheel of the main transfer rotates in two conic bearings with the initial tightness realized by means of the deformed remote plug.

Adjustment of coupling of teeths of the main transfer is made by means of selection of thickness of laying between the internal bearing of a gear wheel and a gear wheel of the main transfer.

Adjustment of a mezhzubyevy gap of the main transfer, and also initial tightness of bearings of differential is made by means of two adjusting flanges with ledges.

On some models the differential of viscous coupling which works at the expense of force of shift arising between disks of viscous coupling when the angular speed of one wheel differs from the angular speed of other wheel is established.
